What we like most about FANCL Pore Cleansing Pack: it comes in a nifty box of 8 sachets of 5g each. Which means you can either divide the sachets among friends, or stuff it easily into your makeup pouch if you’re travelling.
Friend A, a SAHM who has been living in the US and returned for a holiday several days before we met, is enthusiastic. She says she misses the humidity in Singapore, and hopes all that sweating can help detoxify her skin.
Friend B, who spends 9-to-9 Monday-to-Friday in the office, is up for it too. She is recovering from a nasty gastric flu and craving for deep-fried and sugary foods. Never mind that she has oily skin, especially on and around the nose.
In one corner, I am dabbing my face and ends of my hair with tissue paper. I hate everything about summer weather – heat, humidity and high UV. There’s nothing more unglamorous than a sticky, streaky muck of perspiration, grime, moisturiser and sunscreen, especially during a press presentation with pretty PRs. Thanks, but I’d rather not leave the house.
How FANCL Pore Cleansing Pack works: Part of the Japanese brand’s Pore Care series, this aims to keep pores free of blackheads. Blackheads can cause pores to become stretched and more visible, causing your skin to appear dull, dirty and aged. Made with goodies like soapberry extract, pine charcoal and Tanakura clay, this not only softens stubborn blackheads but also loosens sebum and impurities clogged in the pores. Leave on for five minutes, then wash with warm water.
Why we like it: Each packet of FANCL Pore Cleansing Pack contains enough mask for the entire face, even though we are told to apply over the T-zone or areas with enlarged pores. Three of us agree that the consistency was very smooth so it went onto and washed off skin easily.
A, who concentrated on her T-zone, loves it. “Immediately after washing, I felt my skin become tighter and fresher. It is more comfortable than pore strips, for sure. Like!”
B observed that the blackheads on her nose became more protrusive after the mask was washed off. “So I used a scrub to gently buff them away. That was easy!”
As for me, the fairest-skinned among us, enlarged pores are concentrated on my cheeks. The excess went to my chin, an area prone to the occasional zit. I peered into the mirror and noticed that the pores did look a little cleaner – heck, they even appeared smaller – but the complexion was certainly brighter.
